Anna Lowe PhD
Chartered Physiotherapist & Personal Trainer
Anna leads the MFC coaching team, she spent 10+ years in physiotherapy practice diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions. She was a senior lecturer in physiotherapy for many years and has completed a PGCE in adult learning, a Masters degree and PhD. Anna spent 4 years as an Associate Professor at The Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University, her funded research included projects that explored strength training for women in midlife. She is currently a visiting researcher at Sheffield Hallam University and does regular teaching and consultancy on women’s health in midlife. Anna is a busy Mum of teens, a keen cyclist & lover of outdoor adventures.

Elysa Ioannou PhD – Personal Trainer & Associate Nutritionist
Elysa is a researcher at Sheffield Hallam University and a Registered Associate Nutritionist with a passion for helping women feel confident and capable in active spaces. She completed her PhD in 2024 in women’s health. With a first‑class Sport Science degree from Loughborough University, Elysa brings together academic insight and practical coaching. Alongside MFC coaching, she continues to support women through weekly spin classes and is committed to making movement and strength feel accessible—not intimidating—for women at every stage of life.

Bev Davies – Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach & Registered Nurse
Bev has been a registered nurse for over 20 years. She is passionate about helping women strive for good health. Bev has incredible experience of improving her own health, fitness and wellbeing. She put a stop to a lifetime cycle of yo-yo dieting and lost 5-stone in midlife. She also removed alcohol from her life at the start of 2022, in doing so she uncovered her passion for exercise which has opened up a world of adventures. Bev loves lifting weights and is passionate about helping women in midlife to get the benefits of regular strength training.

Hannah Kendall – Personal Trainer & Nutrition Coach
Hannah has a background in catering & knows the importance of healthy eating and nutritious food. Having experienced the challenges of losing weight and building strength in midlife, whilst also juggling a busy family & work life, Hannah understands that having someone in your corner can really make the difference. Determined to help other women, she retrained as a personal trainer in 2017. Outside of work, Hannah has a keen interest in martial arts & achieved her 2nd Dan black belt in 2024. She loves walking and enjoys regular trips around the country to visit her grown up kids.

Credibility matters
MFC coaches have a wealth of experience and expertise in health & fitness and have all undertaken additional training in midlife women’s health. We work closely together, and we support and learn from one another. We only advocate safe, evidence-based approaches. We know when onward referral to more specialist services is required and we have a broad network of healthcare contacts.
Some of our coaches are registered healthcare professionals. For the purposes of services sold through this site, they operate within their scope of practice as personal trainers, fitness instructors and coaches.
