Do I need a coach who specialises in midlife?
The health and fitness needs of women in midlife are different. Different to those of men and different to the needs of women in other stages of life. Many women come to us wanting something different to standard PT, something more tailored, more supported and an approach that is designed specifically for women in midlife.
Our programmes are informed by the best available evidence on the health and fitness requirements of women in midlife.
If a more standard approach might work for you, then we’ll always try and direct you to more suitable support.
How does online coaching work?
Our clients are all different, but one thing that they have in common is that they have extremely busy lives. Online coaching is a flexible option that allows your programme to fit in alongside other commitments. No travel time, no waiting time; it’s very time efficient.
We work hard to make it friendly, fun and personal and our clients tell us that our online approach works. We use technology to help, our app enables you to access information wherever you are in the world. We communicate with clients in the app using direct messaging and voice messages. Our regular video calls are a flexible, convenient way to deliver personalised support.
I am very unfit at the moment, can I still be coached?
Yes, most definitely – we would love to hear from you. We are a judgement-free zone and will work with you whatever your starting point.
How much free time do I need to have?
We work around you and your diary. We really understand the challenges that busy women in midlife face, we will work with whatever time you have and we always try to make our workouts as time efficient as possible. If you prefer 5 x 20 minute home workouts each week, then we’ll programme that for you. Our initial, one-to-one assessment really enables us to build a plan around you.
When is midlife?
It’s a source of debate – it’s when you are no longer young, but not yet old. Some sources say 35-65 years of age. Most of our clients are women over 40, but we take a flexible approach. If you like our approach, then drop us a line and we can chat through whether it might be right for you.
Why do I have to sign up for 3 months?
Lifestyle change can be hard at first. Experience tells us that it can take many weeks to form new habits. Three months gives us a really good window to support our clients through their sustainable, new routines. It gives us chance to make sure that every plan is sustainable through busy times, holidays, family crises and the standard bugs. We don’t let anyone fall at the first hurdle and three months gives us time to work together to get it right.
What app do you use and why?
We want to use technology to help. We know that time is of the essence for busy women and the app means that you can access your coaching programme any time, any place. We want you to feel as though you have a coach in your pocket!
We use a fitness app called Everfit, we chose it because it is easy for clients to use. This is how we deliver fitness workouts, monitor your step count, log your meals, answer your questions and lots more. We communicate regularly with clients in the app.
What happens after 3 months?
All of our plans are based on sustainable change and after three months, most clients have the confidence, knowledge and motivation to continue by themselves.
Some women choose to move onto a maintenance programme, which is a cheaper, month-by-month online support package. This is only open to women who have already completed a 12-week coaching programme with us. See our Services page for more information.
Do I need access to a gym?
No, definitely not. If you’d prefer to do your workouts at home, we plan them that way and we’ll take into account how much space and equipment you have. Some clients just have a mat and a couple of weights at home.
If you’d prefer to do workouts in a gym, we’ll find out as much as we can about the space you exercise in and we’ll plan your sessions accordingly.
Do you coach specific sports?
No, we’re not sport-specific coaches. If you do recreational sport and want a more rounded programme for your overall health, then we could definitely help. We don’t provide sport-specific coaching programmes though, we are general health and fitness coaches who specialise in midlife.
