Weight loss injection therapy
Weight loss injections, also known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, or by their trade names of Ozempic, Mounjaro and Wegovy are a class of prescription medications primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes and, more recently, obesity. They work by mimicking the effects of the natural hormone GLP-1 in the body, which helps regulate blood sugar levels and appetite.
Women in midlife make up a substantial proportion of people using weight loss injections. We have been approached by a number of prospective clients with experience of weight loss injection therapy. Whilst they have achieved the desired weight loss, women report:
- Rapid weight loss that leads to feeling weak and deconditioned.
- Rapid changes in body composition, that is – loss of body fat and muscle – leaving women with excess baggy skin.
- Rebound weight gain after stopping the injections.
Turning Point

Turning Point is our bespoke, online support package for women in midlife who are using weight loss injections. It applies evidence that exercise and nutrition strategies can help to preserve muscle mass and reduce the chances of rebound weight gain.
